Meet Ally

Every Alloy workspace includes Ally. Ally is the built-in assistant for the platform and is available from the internal chat experience.

Use Ally when you want help understanding the workspace, finding information, organizing knowledge, or getting started with AI teammates.

You can open Ally from the Chats launcher in the sidebar. The current keyboard shortcut is Alt+C.

Ally uses the same internal chat experience as other AI teammates, including conversation history, search, renamed conversations, deleted conversations, attachments, feedback, docked and floating views, minimized sessions, and realtime voice where enabled.

Ally can help with workspace tasks such as using storage, working with conversations, managing organization actions, reviewing settings, and navigating Alloy concepts.

Ally is also part of onboarding. New self-serve workspaces can start with an Ally welcome message, and onboarding can open Ally automatically after the first load.

Ally is treated differently from regular AI teammates for storage access. Ally has automatic full access to organization storage and is not shown as a normal editable share target.

When you share a storage folder with AI teammates, Ally appears as already enabled with read and write access because the full storage access is automatic.

Ally is a general workspace assistant. Specialized AI teammates are still useful when a role needs its own instructions, tools, knowledge access, channel, model settings, skills, MCPs, jobs, schedulers, API setup, or voice configuration.

Start with Ally for general help. Add AI teammates when you need a repeatable role with clear responsibilities.
