Give AI teammates the knowledge they need

Storage is the shared knowledge area inside an Alloy organization. Teams can browse folders, upload files, create folders, download files, copy paths, search, and open supported files in Cowork.

Use Storage for the documents, notes, references, and working files that people and AI teammates need to do their jobs.

Teams can upload files by file picker, drag-and-drop, or folder upload. Current supported upload types include common images, PDFs, Office files, text files, markdown, CSV, JSON, YAML, and HTML.

The current upload limit is 10 MB per file. Duplicate handling supports skipping existing files or replacing them.

Only folders can be shared with AI teammates. Root storage cannot be shared.

Folder sharing uses read and write permissions. Write access also requires read access, so the system does not create write-only storage access.

Storage can support both exact search and semantic search. Vector indexing currently supports `.txt`, `.md`, `.docx`, `.pdf`, and `.pptx`.

Some valid uploads may not be indexable, but they can still live in Storage and be used as normal files.

Non-system AI teammates can list, search, read, write, edit, rename, copy, or move storage content only inside folders where they have the needed permission.

Ally is the special case. Ally has organization-wide storage visibility in the storage tool layer.
